Now that I’m back from my endless summer vacation I have decided to never use the terms “girlie,” “girlies,” “girlinas” ever again.
This could be due to the fact that I am now 31 (everyone wish me HBD in the comments), or that it’s related to my feelings on the verbiage having menacing undertones. I have never witnessed anyone refer to someone else as “girlypop” in a positive manner.
While I wish I was in bed watching 1000000 episodes of E.R. and googling medical terminology, I am in fact, back at work, and back in the world, experiencing the endless realm of experiences.
Things I Have My Eye On
Today I saw a woman with the Dragon Diffusion bag that I want and have referenced several times in this Substack. I tapped her on the shoulder and asked her how she likes it. She said it’s become her “everyday bag” and that it “holds soooo much.” She promptly opened her purse to show me. I saw at least three lip color options, some keys, a notepad, a book, and some gum. That pretty much sells it to me, folks!
My grandma sent me a gift card to my favorite spice store in Oakland, CA. I love the Oaktown Sweet Heat BBQ rub (and I’ve recently run out, so I’ll definitely be re-upping). It’s really great on salmon! Also considering the Chinese 5 Spice and Mole Poblano.
I waited too long and the Matteau dress I wanted to wear to my friend’s September wedding is no longer in stock. However, I can still get it in brown? I want a good fall color. I can get this one on Rent the Runway, but then I’ve gotta join RTR…. Will do a deeper dive on this later.
I met the founder of skincare line The Route at a PR luncheon, and not only was she fun and amazing, her Party Peel rocks. It’s this gold face mask that oxygenates and creates bubbles you rub in to reveal brighter, glowing skin. I have very sensitive skin so was a little afraid at first but my skin actually loved it and I saw great results.
What if I got these Practical Magic candles? Can you tell I’m ready for fall? Lol.
I FOUND THEM! THE GREATEST PILLOWS TO EVER EXIST! They were on the bed at the Colony Palms hotel in Palm Springs where I stayed for my birthday. I liked them so much I stripped off the pillow case to check the brand. They’re squooshy without being mushy, and two layered one on top of the other is just right for my specific neck pains. Too bad they’re $300 damn dollars!! The down alternative version is only $87. But will it be as comfortable??
Something I want to do
I went to the Beverly Hills Hotel this week, which I had never been to before, despite living in L.A. pretty much my whole life. It got me thinking, what other L.A.-famous places have I never visited? So far I’ve come up with this list: The Hollywood Roosevelt, Philippe The Original French Dip, Descanso Gardens, the damn Getty Villa!! Who will have a fun day of tourism with me. Sounds like a heavy lunch followed by a lot of walking, ending with drinks?
I also think I might start an interview series on here. Obvious choices include Dan (world-famous magician and Noah Wyle lookalike), my sister (former celebrity assistant), Chelsea Duff (horror podcast host and also my best friend), or really anyone who says yes. Sound off in the comments!
Anyway, I’m back on my Substack grind so more to come.
Love you, mean it
